New San Luis Obispo Restaurant

New Restaurant in Downtown SLO

Luna Red - New Restaurant in Downtown SLO

Say Ciao to “Chow”, hello “Luna Red”.  Downtown San Luis Obispo has a new “destination restaurant”: Luna Red. This is on the site of the previous”Chow” restaurant on Monterey Street. It is owned and managed by Robin and Shanny Covey, the local owners of such noted and very popular restaurants as “Nova” in SLO, and “Robin’s Restaurant” in downtown Cambria.

While Chow, Nova and Robin’s all have/had  great food, here’s hoping the location at 1009 Monterey Street  - between Mo’s and the “Big Fremont” movie theatre – breaks the jinx of this location. In the past 15 years, this location has been a coffee shop (name forgotten), Z Club (or something like it),  Panolivo, Chow and now Luna Red. In the meantime, Buona Tavola, Koberl at Blue and MO’s have all had great success in nearby locations.

Luna Red offers “Global Tapas and Wine”. Note; Luna Red, according to it’s website www.lunaredslo.com, is offering lunch from Monday -Friday, but not on Saturday and Sunday. Dinner / tapas (small plates) is available all week. Phone number is 805.540.5243.
