Wear Red to Encourage Tourism Funding

The California Travel & Tourism Commission (CTTC) is encouraging people in the tourism industry to wear red this week – especially Tuesday, May 10. This is after all, National Tourism Month.

The CTTC have a logo, customizable PR release for local Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO’s) and other materials available on a dedicated landing page of their website:

I do wish them good luck – and I will wear red this week. Let us see if this has an impact on proposed state budget cuts.

Great “Sunset: Savor the Central Coast” Kick-Off Reception

Sunset Savor the Central Coast LogoThere was a great kick-off reception for the 2011 “Sunset: Savor the Central Coast” at the Hearst Castle Reception area on Thursday, May 5.

There was an impressive attendance list, including top representatives from Sunset Magazine, all the BID’s in SLO County, representatives from all the cities,  a county supervisor, Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, as well as many hotels and others. The event was hosted by the SLO County VCB. In all, there were over 150 attendees.

It was gratifying to hear that the dollar target for sponsorships has already been achieved, and ticket sales have taken off much faster than last year. Other good news included a public statement by Sunset Magazine that they would promote the event more heavily this year.

Finally, many thanks to Aramark for great food and Hearst Ranch Winery for the wine provided.
